Prevention Of Violence Against Children And Adolescent

Through 1000 good school program which aims at prevention of violence against girls and children in schools, CCI-Uganda has been working in 60 primary schools in Lira district both Government and private headed schools. We have strengthened capacity of protagonists’ teachers, school administrators, School management committees, children committees and supported children’s court committees. This is to create a supportive environment, promote positive discipline and have a safety and friendly learning environment for children. The organization support local activism and support knowledge creation and encouragement of parents to support their children to complete their schools, we use local drama shows and stage film shows in the communities and bring together different community members. CCI Uganda also work with schools to promote school feeding programs in primary schools as part of our strategies in encouraging better learning and improved performance for pupils and reduce school drops outs and absenteeism

Education Promotion And Support/Sponsorship

As part of CCI-Uganda contribution to ensure retention of children in school, to date, we have supported 500 children and OVC with school fees and different scholastic materials such as books, pens, math sets, and school uniforms. As a result, we were able to attain 80% school retention of these OVC with the items provided to them. Also under CCI-Uganda Food Programs to support OVC households and child headed families in this region, CCI-Uganda has been in position to support 150 children who have lost one or both of their parents

Land Rights And Access To Resources

Land being a very important resources and is key to household economic strengthening and food security, CCI works to contribute to peaceful co-existence through direct community transformation of the human rights promotion and respect; and to consolidate peace among local communities in Lira district. The organization focuses more on empowerment which creates access to land ownership and resources by the vulnerable households and children who are orphans. Today, a total of 1,631 (965 male and 666 female) local, religious, CSO, community paralegals and other stakeholders were trained. 333 cases referred, 2,398 handle in the community, 1,340. 1,617(670 male and 947 female) community benefited from the dialogue. A total of 1,319 people were reach with advocacy messages, 1670 (750 male and 920 female) reached through drama; and 35,000 people were reached through community sensitization.
